Minnesota State Captures Third Straight North Central Conference Cup

Minnesota State rallied with a strong spring season to capture its third straight North Central Conference Cup. The Mavericks collected 29 of a possible 37 points in the spring season to edge second-place North Dakota by a 3.5-point margin. The two teams tied for the Cup last year.

Nebraska-Omaha moved ahead of North Dakota to win the Women's All-Sports Trophy standings with 53.5 points. The Mavericks won the women's tennis championship, finished second in softball and fourth in outdoor track & field during the spring season and have now won three straight women's All-Sports titles and four of the last five honors. North Dakota was second in the standings with 50.5 points while Minnesota State was moved from fifth to third on the strength of the softball championship, a third-place finish in outdoor track & field and a fifth-place finish in tennis.

Minnesota State won the baseball and outdoor track & field titles and finished third in tennis on the men's side to claim the Men's All-Sports Trophy by 12 1/2-point margin. North Dakota edged South Dakota, 33.5 to 31.5, for second place in those standings with third-place finishes in baseball and outdoor track & field while South Dakota was second in outdoor track & field.

This season marks the fourth time that The North Central Conference Cup is being awarded. The recipient of the Cup is determined by adding together the points received in the Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophy standings. Complete standings for the Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophy can be found on page two of this release.
