Three NCC Softball Teams Selected for NCAA DII Softball Championships

Minnesota State is the top seed and host for the North Central Region of the NCAA Division II Softball Championships in an announcement made tonight by the NCAA. The Mavericks are joined by NCC foes Nebraska-Omaha as the #4 seed and Minnesota Duluth as the #6 seed in the eight-team bracket.

Minnesota State, ranked sixth in the lastest NFCA Division II poll, won the North Central Conference Championship with a 6-3 loss and 7-2 win over Minnesota Duluth while Nebraska-Omaha tied for fifth in the NCAA tournament after falling twice on Friday. Minnesota State won the regular-season standings in the NCC with a 10-1 mark while Nebraska-Omaha was second at 7-5 and Minnesota Duluth was third with a 6-5 mark.

Play will begin with the North Central Region tournament to be played at Cadwell Park in North Mankato, Minn. on Thursday and will continue with play scheduled through Monday, May 14. The winner of the North Central Region will advance to the NCAA Division II Finals at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio May 17-21.
