Wollenhaupt, Ferreira and Varichak Earn Swimming & Diving Honors

Sarah Wollenhaupt and Rodrigo Ferreira of North Dakota have been named the NCC Swimmers of the Week while Kari Varichak of North Dakota has been honored as the NCC Diver of the Week.

Wollenhaupt, a senior from Chaska, Minn., posted a pair of ‘B-cut' times at the Minnesota Invitational. She had a time of 2:23.93 in the 200 breaststroke and a clocking of 1:06.20 in the 100 breaststroke.

Ferriera, a senior from Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil, had two ‘A-cut' and two ‘B-cut' individual performances to help North Dakota to a fourth-place showing at the Division I-dominated Minnesota Invitational. His ‘A-cut' times were fourth place showings in the 50 freestyle (:20.75) and 400 freestyle (3:04.64). His ‘B-cuts' came in a second-place 100 backstroke time of :48.78 and a fifth-place 100 freestyle performance of :46.29. He was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay squads that posted ‘A-cut' times.

Varichak, a senior from Fridley, Minn., qualified for nationals and won both boards at the UND Diving Invitational with scores of 375.85 on the one-meter and 429.75 on the two-meter.
