NCC Swimming & Diving Teams Garner Four Top-10 Finishes and Six Event Championships at NCAA Meet

North Central Conference Swimming & Diving teams claimed three top-10 finishes at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships. The NCC teams were paced by North Dakota with a third-place finish on the women's side and fifth place finish on the men's side. NCC student-athletes also claimed six individual event championships.

The Championships were held Wednesday through Saturday in Columbia, Mo.

Individual performances are highlighted by two student-athletes that claimed two national championships each. North Dakota's Carissa Gormally won both the 50 and 100 freestyle events while St. Cloud State's Nate Jimerson swept both diving events (3 meter and 1 meter). South Dakota's Jill Smolczyk claimed South Dakota's first swimming & diving national championship when she won the one-meter competition after a second-place finish on the 3-meter board. The Nebraska-Omaha 400 freestyle relay team of Jessica Hessel, Kristy Gmeiner, Megan Guthmiller and Cait Hopkins scored the national championship in the meet's final event.
