Kunkel, Rains and Dilling Earn Track and Field Honors

Amanda Kunkel of St. Cloud State and Katelin Rains & Jim Dilling of Minnesota State have been named the North Central Conference Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Kunkel, a junior from Eden Prairie, Minn., set a school record in the shot put with a third-place toss of 50-8.75 and won the shot put with a personal best mark of 46-3.50 at the Bison Open. Her mark in the shot put is the fourth best in NCAA Division II so far this season and provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Rains, a sophomore from Spring Lake Park, Minn., won the pole vault at the MSU Alumni Open, clearing 12-4. The mark is the tied for the top mark in NCAA Division II so far this season and is a provisional qualifying mark as well.

Dilling, a senior from Fond du Lac, Wis., cleared 7-3 3/4 to win the high jump by eight inches at the MSU Alumni Open. The jump is the top mark in NCAA Division II competition and is an automatic qualifying mark for the national meet.
