Smith, Liggins, Mosley & Kleffman Named Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Kiki Smith and Terry Liggins of South Dakota have been named the North Central Conference Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week while Jasmine Mosley of South Dakota and Matt Kleffman of Minnesota Duluth have been named the North Central Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Smith, a senior from Wahpeton, N.D., had NCAA Division II provisional marks in the 400 and 100 hurdles at the Kansas Relays. She posted a personal-best 1:01.74 in the 400 hurdle prelims and then had a 1:02.57 and was sixth in the finals.The prelim time is the ninth best performance in the DII this season. Smith also had a personal best and DII provisional qualifying mark of :14.61 in the 100 hurdles but did not qualify for the finals.

Liggins, a junior from Omaha, Neb., finished fourth in the University-College Division 110 hurdles with a season-best :14.40 at the Kansas Relays. He finished third in the race behind an unattached runner and two Division I athletes with the time, which is the 12th best in DII this season.

Mosley, a freshman from Bellevue, Neb., won the Sioux City Relays shot put title with a toss of 49-3, the third best throw in DII this season and a provisional qualifying mark. The tally is also a new USD school record.

Kleffman, a junior from Red Wing, Minn., placed fifth in the hammer throw at the Carleton Relays with a personal-best throw of 163-11. He also finished sixth in the discus (135-7) and fourth in the shot put (48-7).
