Three NCC Women’s Basketball Teams Selected to NCAA Championship Field

South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota State have been seleced to represent the North Central Conference in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship. South Dakota, by virtue of being the #1 seed, will host the North Central region tournament beginning Friday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.

North Dakota is the #2 seed in the tournament while Minnesota State is the region's #6 seed. South Dakota won it's first NCC Tournament championship this afternoon with a 72-69 win over North Dakota. It is the third time that South Dakota has defeated North Dakota, handing the Fighting Sioux their only three losses of the year. Minnesota State is making it's first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 1986.

The winner of the North Central Region will meet the winner of the South Central Region in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Kearney, Neb. on Wednesday, March 26.
