MSU Edged for NCAA Wrestling Title; UNO Takes Third; Four NCC Wrestlers Win Titles

It all came down to the final match for the national title, but when Tervel Dlagnev of Nebraska-Kearney won his heavyweight bout it gave the Lopers the points needed to edge Minnesota State 108.5-108 for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship. Nebraska-Omaha finished third with 93.5 points and four NCC wrestlers brought home individual national titles.

Individual national champions at the meet were Nebraska-Omaha's Cody Garcia (125) & Todd Meneely (149) and Minnesota State's Jason Rhoten (157) & Andy Pickar (165). Minnesota State's Nick Smith was second at 125 (defeated by fellow NCC wrestler Garcia) while Nebraska-Omaha's Ross Taplin finished second at 174 pounds.

UNO's Garcia was named the Wrestler of the Year and had the Most Pins in the Fastest Time.

St. Cloud State finished 12th at the meet while Augustana was tied for 17th.
