Minnesota State won the North Central Conference Cup and both the Men's and Women's All-Sports trophies for the 2007-08 season. The Mavericks ran away in the otherwise tight race for the Men's All-Sports Awards with a 18-point margin over second-place St. Cloud State while the women's had a slimmer 1.5 point margin over second-place South Dakota. In the NCC Cup Standings MSU had a large 21-point advantage over second-place South Dakota.

It is the fourth time in the five-year history of the NCC Cup that the Mavericks have claimed the award and it is only the fifth time in NCC history that a team has claimed both the Men's and Women's All-Sports Awards in the same year. Minnesota State won both All-Sports Trophies back-to-back in 1986-87 and 1987-88 while North Dakota State achieved the feat in 1989 with South Dakota State being the last team to do it in 1996-97.

Minnesota State didn't have a finish lower than third in the six spring sports and captured first place in the regular-season standings of softball while winning the men's outdoor track & field title.

The women's All-Sports race was extremely tight with only 5 1/2 points seperating the top four spots in the ranking. South Dakota was only two points behind MSU with 46 points, Nebraska-Omaha was third with 44 points and Augustana was fourth with 42.5 points.

Minnesota State dominated the men's All-Sports standings with a 18-point margin over second-place St. Cloud State and a total of 45.5 points. The remaining six spots in the standings were extremely tight with only a 7 1/2-point spread from second through seventh place. St. Cloud State was second with 27.5 points, South Dakota was third with 26.5 points, Augustana was fourth with 24 points, Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota tied for fifth with 23.5 points while Minnesota Duluth tallied 20 points in seventh place.

This season marks the fifth time that The North Central Conference Cup is being awarded. The recipient of the Cup is determined by adding together the points received in the Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophy standings.
