Offensive Players - Donte Shackleford & Danny Freund

Danny Freud of North Dakota and Donte Shackelford of Minnesota State have been named the NCC Offensive Players of the Week.

Freund, a junior from Kenosha, Wis., made his first collegiate start a memorable one, throwing for five touchdown passes - all in the first half - in UND's 59-0 season-opening win over Humboldt State. Freund's five TD strikes were one short of the school record.

Freund completed his first eight passes and finished 15-for-18 for 286 yards and found four different receivers for his five TD passes.

Shackelford, a junior from Omaha, Neb., led all receivers with six catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns as Minnesota State downed Central Missouri. He hauled in passes of 58 and 40 yards. His 161 yards receiving was the ninth-highest total in Minnesota State history.

Others nominated: Jeremy Huber, Augustana.

Defensive Player - Dustin Rice

Dustin Rice of Augustana has been named the NCC Defensive Players of the Week.

Rice, a senior defensive back from Lead, S.D., had only two tackles but made a big play to end the game and secure a 26-19 victory for Augustana over Mary.

With Augustana leading 20-19 with 12 seconds left in the game, Rice intercepted a pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown as time expired.

Also nominated: Mike Hinton, Minnesota State; Kris Ankenbauer, North Dakota.

Special Teams - Joe Nordin

Joe Nordin of Augustana has been named the NCC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Nordin, a senior from Lake Lillian, Minn., placed four of his eight punts inside the 20-yard line, including one punt to the four-yard line and another to the five-yard line as Augustana defeated Mary. Nordin averaged 38.5 yards per punt with a long of 45 yards.

Also nominated: Joel Schwenzfeier, North Dakota; Jason Thompkins, Minnesota State.
