Offensive Player of the Week - Ben King

Ben King of Minnesota State has been named the NCC Offensive Player of the Week.

King, a senior quarterback from Marshfield, Wis., completed 15 of 22 passes for 299 yards and seven touchdowns against Peru State.

King, who only played a quarter plus one possession in the game, set a new NCAA Division II record with six touchdown tosses in one quarter.

Others nominated: Ted Schlafke, Minnesota Duluth; Tommy Ellingworth, Augustana; Amos Allen, South Dakota; Zach Miller, Nebraska-Omaha; Mike Reilly, Central Washington; Nate Johnson, St. Cloud State; Ryan Chappell, North Dakota.

Defensive Player of the Week - Jeff Souder

Jeff Souder of Nebraska-Omaha has been named the NCC Defensive Player of the Week.

Souder, a junior outside linebacker from Bellevue, Neb., had 15 tackles (6 solo, 9 assist) including 3.5 for loss with a sack as Nebraska-Omaha upset Northwest Missouri State.

Also nominated: Chris Koopman, Augustana; T.J. Simmons, South Dakota; Nate Pirak, Central Washington; Matt Jensen, St. Cloud State; Blake Freese, Minnesota State; Rory Manke, North Dakota.

Special Teams Player of the Week - Brian Cristan

Brian Cristan of St. Cloud State has been named the NCC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Cristan, a junior from Mahtomedi, Minn., both punted and did all the place-kicking for the Huskies. He punted five times for 212 yards (42.4 ypp) and was successful on all three field goals, including the game-winner with 55 seconds remaining on the clock.

The field goal attempts were the first for Cristan since his senior year in high schoool.
