MSU's Ben King Named D2Football.com Player of the Week

Ben King

Minnesota State senior quarterback Ben King (Marshfield, Wis.) has been named the D2Football.com Offensive Player of the Week, the officials  announced Tuesday.
King shares the award with Truman State quarterback Matt Ticich and East Central quarterback Marcus Johnson.

It is the second time in his career that King has been honored by D2Football.com.  He also earned the award following his 40-63, 505 yard performance against South Dakota last season.

King played just a quarter and the first possession of the second quarter, completing 15-of-22 passes for 299 yards and seven touchdowns in Minnesota State's 70-0 victory over Peru State last Thursday. He tossed six touchdown passes in the first quarter, setting a new NCAA Division II record. The previous record of five was held by several players, the last being Kevin Russell of California (Pa) against Frostburg State, on Nov. 5, 2003.
