Kate Maland and Kevin Lukens Awarded ITA Arthur Ashe Regional Awards

Minnesota State's Kate Maland and St. Cloud State's Kevin Lukens have been named regional recipients of the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.

The ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

Maland, along with her partner Sarah Madigan, led the Mavericks in doubles victories with a 13-11 record. Maland also finished the season with a 6-17 singles record, while maintaining a 3.54 GPA in Marketing.

Lukens finished third in #4 singles at the 2008 North Central Conference Tennis Championships and won the conference title with partner Kevin Bauleke.

Recipients of the regional awards are eligible for the national award.
