Minnesota Duluth Picked to Three-Peat in NCC Volleyball Poll

Minnesota Duluth has been picked by league coaches to three-peat as the North Central Conference champion in the NCC volleyball coaches poll released today.

UMD received six first-place votes and one second-place vote for a total of 48 points. Second-place Augustana totaled 35 points with three second, two third, one fourth and one fifth-place selections. Nebraska-Omaha was third with three second, one third, two fourth and one seventh-place nods. Minnesota State received the final first-place vote and was picked as fourth in the query.

Minnesota Duluth captured its second consecutive NCC crown in 2005 with a 11-1 mark. Nebraska-Omaha finished second in the league race with a 10-2 mark.

Minnesota Duluth was joined by Nebraska-Omaha and Augustana in the NCAA North Central Region tournament.

UMD advanced to the championship game of the North Central Region before falling to Concordia-St. Paul.

Teams begin play on the weekend of August 24 with conference play opening on September 15.
