ATLANTA, Ga. - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today that St. Cloud State University's Erika Quigley has been named the State Farm/WBCA National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Player of the Year.  The WBCA presents this award annually to the top players in each of the following WBCA collegiate divisions (NCAA Divisions II, III, NAIA and JC/CC) and high school. Later in the day she was also named the Daktronics Most Valuable Player.

"Erika Quigley's consistent standout play this season has made her the prominent candidate for this honor," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass.  "We are delighted to present her with this year's State Farm/WBCA NCAA Division II Player of the Year Award and we look forward to watching her continued success in the world of women's basketball."

This Duluth, Minnesota native has proven herself to be at the top of her class in Division II basketball.  Only the second player in St. Cloud history to be named the North Central Conference MVP, Erika Quigley led the NCAA Division II in scoring and was sixth in rebounding and blocked shots.  Quigley scored 30+ points in six games this season and tied a school record of 38 points versus MSU-Moorhead.

She rewrote the record books at SCSU with 2,570 points, 1,341 boards and 300 blocks in her career.  This season she averaged 24.5 points per game, 11.6 rebounds per game and tallied 76 blocked shots for the season. Quigley is a two-time NCC scoring champion and three-time NCC rebounding champion.  She finishes her career with the Huskies as a four-time All-North Central Conference selection and a three-time Kodak/WBCA All-American.  Quigley is a Sport Management major at St. Cloud.

"Congratulations to State Farm/WBCA NCAA Division II Player of the Year, Erika Quigley," said Mark D. Gibson, Assistant Vice President of Advertising at State Farm. "Her outstanding accomplishments as a student-athlete, on and off the court, make her truly deserving of this wonderful honor. We look forward to seeing Erika fulfill the rest of her basketball dreams."

The State Farm/WBCA Player of the Year Award is selected by the nine-member WBCA Player of the Year Committee, which consists of one WBCA-member coach from each of the eight WBCA Division II Regions and the committee chair.
