Both Minnesota State and Nebraska-Omaha survived shootout victories in the regional semifinal games and will face each other for the Central Region title in Mankato Friday.

Minnesota State, the top seed and host site for half the region, received a first-round bye and reached a 1-1 stalemate with Central Missouri after regulation and two overtimes. The teams then battled to a 10-player shootout, with the Mavericks coming out on top to advance to the NCAA Central Region Finals. The final shoot-out score was seven to six. Tayler Vestal scored the final goal in the shootout.

MSU advances to the Central Region Finals for the second time in school history. The last time was in 2005. Nebraska-Omaha ended MSU's run that season with a 4-0 victory.

MSU tied the game 1-1 at 84:33 on a goal by Marti Klinsing. Klinsing's unassisted goal came about 10 yards out when the ball came to her after the ball bounced around in the front of the goal.

UCM scored its goal at 44:06 to take a 1-0 halftime lead. Kayla Jupp scored the goal for the Jennies.

Nicole Johannson made two saves in regulation, but more importantly four in the shootout.

After 110 scoreless minutes, Nebraska-Omaha posted a 5-4 win in the shootout over Winona State Sunday .

UNO goalie Ellen Petersen made two saves in the shootout. After the second one, Dani McCawley scored the game winner to send the Mavericks regional final.

The Mavs once again controlled the pace of the match throughout, outshooting the Warriors 15-4 in regulation, with a 5-0 edge in shots on goal. Brandie Beale and Kellyn Kramolisch each nearly won the match in the first half, with having a shot ring off the crossbar.

Winona State finally got a shot on net in the first overtime frame, but Petersen made the stop. Casey Bigsby also had a shot on goal in the period, but Warriors goalie Amanda Diehm also made the save.

Three different Mavs scored as UNO blanked Truman State, 3-0, in their first-round match for their ninth straight win. The win avenged an earlier loss in the season to Truman.

Minnesota State handed Nebraska-Omaha its only two NCC losses of the season, a 3-0 loss September 16 and a 4-2 loss September 30, the last loss for UNO this season.
