Commissioner’s Academic Football Honor Roll Named The NCC Commisssioner’s Academic Honor Roll for football has been compiled and 119 student-athletes have acheived the honor. To qualify student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 grade point average, have completed at least two semesters at their current school and have competed against outside competition. North Dakota Is Preseason Football Favorite For Second Consecutive Year For the second consecutive year North Dakota has been picked as North Central Conference football favorite in both the preseason media and coaches polls released today. The two samples agreed on the top spot and the bottom two spots, but none of the other six slots were the same in the two polls. USD’s Mara McGill and UND’s Michael Greenwood Named Recipients of NCC Scholar-Athlete Award Mara McGill of South Dakota and Michael Greenwood of North Dakota were named recipients of the 2007 NCC Scholar-Athlete Award as part of the NCC Honors Dinner at Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls, S.D. Monday evening. MORE >>  South Dakota’s Christian Morton Named Rimington Award Recipient As DII’s Top Center Christian Morton of The University of South Dakota Football Team has been named the top center in NCAA Division II for the 2006 season. Morton, a two-year starter for the Coyotes, was named the winner of the Rimington Award as the top center, according to an announcement by the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Omaha, Neb., which sponsors the Rimington Award. MORE >>  Frank Leibfarth South Dakota’s Frank Leibfarth Named to USA Today’s All-USA College Academic First Team Frank Leibfarth, a junior place-kicker on the South Dakota Football Squad, has become the first student-athlete in school and North Central Conference history to be named to the USA Today’s All-USA College Academic Team, which was announced by the publication on Thursday. The academic team, selected for the 18th time, includes just 20 students from among 600 applicants nationwide and recognizes full-time undergraduate students for academic and civic achievement.
